Summer in the UAE officially said “Adios!” and that means things are livelier again at parks. Ripe Market is back in Abu Dhabi and it is happening in Umm Al Emarat Park (which means ‘Mother of The Nation Park’; the Arabic terminologies translated as ‘Umm’ = mother, ‘Al Emarat’ = the nation). However, some find it quite a handful to pronounce and/or remember, so do not be surprised if it is still fondly called ‘Mushrif Park’.
While the park is open from 8:00 AM to midnight everyday, Ripe Market is happening from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM every Saturday only. As you enter the park, you would see from your left the stalls where organic products (locally produced in UAE) are being sold. Continue reading

After visiting the Last Exit, we decided to check a recently opened shopping destination since it is few kilometers drive away then. While shopping was not on the agenda, it would be clever to burn some calories injected by the paella and burger while taking a peek at this newest ‘village’ in the UAE. The architecture did not disappoint; it is not hyped because it is indeed stunning particularly if you are seeing it in person. While I am yet to set foot in Italy next year, the plenty of movie orientation and social media spreads made it easily identifiable as Tuscan-inspired.

To those who have missed the 3-day exhibit in Cityscape Abu Dhabi, this one’s for you.
It is no surprise that Aldar’s (a lead developer in Abu Dhabi) main office is of course oddly shaped. I liked how the scale model has accurately captured the intersections and other details. It has became iconic that if you are coming from Dubai, you would know that you are soon approaching downtown Abu Dhabi when you see the coin-shaped building to your right. Continue reading
