    • In photos: Sebastian Vettel and the 2010 Grand Prix

Our weeklong break (due to Eid al-Adha) is concluding in few hours. I am glad that I decided not to travel outside the UAE and tried a combination of staycation + never tried stuff. Productivity and leisure rolled into one. I am happy, too, that I gave Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a go last minute and that the tickets “found me” just in time even if it was impossible to source out that hour. Watching a race up close was a new experience. At first, the engine’s roaring was so deafening, despite the ear protection provided to us upon entry to the designated grandstands. It was a thrilling experience. Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel, the youngest Formula One champion.

(Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, the primary vocalists of Linkin Park)

As much as I wanted to immediately blog about Linkin Park’s after-race concert last Saturday, I hardly sustained my excitement. I maintain this preference not to write when I am at my highest high or lowest low in order to be objective. If I did, my words probably have just read as screaming praises for Linkin Park. Now that I have gathered enough sleep, I maintain the same judgment that their performance, theirs and audience’s energy was 6 times better than the preceding night (just when I thought that it was good enough).

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2010 tickets

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix tickets were sold out last night. And I almost lost my chance.

It was not that I wanted to learn my lesson the hard way. But it really took me so long to decide if I should buy the tickets or not because months ago I anticipated that I might be traveling outside the UAE by next week’s long break. (Yes, we have a week off due to Islam’s Eid al-Adha, i.e. Festival of Sacrifice.) Also, I hesitated if Linkin Park will indeed be one of the performers at the after-race concerts. While their attendance as well as of Kanye West, Prince and others has long been confirmed by the organizers, I still reserved my doubt until its chance of happening was probable. Why? Because much more than the race, I am interested about the after-race concerts happening on the 12th, 13th and 14th of November. Yes, there goes my personal main triggers. And here’s the catch, only those who are holding the F1 race tickets will be allowed entry to the concerts. And the search is over, much thanks to those (you know who you are!) who helped us get the tickets last minute.

Snapchat-5703935704258315256 Marhaba! That's "hello" in Arabic. I am an expatriate based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). I started writing about my adventures and misadventures few months before arriving here at winter of 2008. I have 2 cats and a dog who live harmoniously together. I am also surrounded by kindhearted, crazy, funny and indescribable humans! I was a dormant blogger for almost 3 years because of countless reasonable justifications like watching football, postgraduate studies, sleeping, traveling, caring for the world, and more! :) I am just so happy that I am back! It is never too late to catch up with the people and things we really care about. Feel free to look around.

Happy birthday to my future son-in-law, @bts_jhope . 🤪 You and Little J share the same birth month. She likes you so much that she opted to wear you (Mang) on her 18th birthday. So, she came to her surprise party surprising the guests with her outfit. Gladly, she brought extra clothes. She finally decided to eat and share the BTS cupcakes after almost a week since she received them as gift, EXCEPT for you/ Mang character — still in the fridge. We’d probably have you framed. And, yes, the candles read as “Happy Fucking Bday”. 🎂 On a serious note, @bts.bighitofficial, thank you for making Little J’s life (and mine, too!) more joyful. ❤️ #junghoseok #jhope #bts #bangtansonyeondan #jhopesbirthday
I can’t believe that Little J is now 18. We threw a surprise (intimate) party for her on the actual day of her birth date. When the cake is accompanied by candles that read as “Happy Fucking Bday”, you know that the debutante is awesome, blessed, much loved, and has a bright personality. And, of course, she deserved the non-conventional 18 roses and playlist. ..................................................................................🎥📸🎙 Moonriver (Barney Kessel, Breakfast at Tiffany’s) If You Leave Me Now (Chicago) Stayin’ Alive (Bee Gees) Doo Bi Doo (Kamikaze) Batang Bata Ka Pa (Itchyworms) Blue Jeans (Rocksteddy) Green (Ben Rector) How Deep Is Your Love (Take That) September (Earth, Wind and Fire) American Boy (VersaEmerge) Toxic (VersaEmerge) Till They Take My Heart Away (MYMP) Breakout (MYMP) River (Eminem/ Ed Sheeran) Zombie (Cranberries) It’s Definitely You (BTS) Sunday Morning (Maroon 5) Best of Me (BTS) Cypher Pt.4 (BTS) Spring Day (BTS) 21st Century Girls (BTS) Let’s Groove (Earth, Wind and Fire)
