Teriyaki Boy, Atrium, SM Megamall. We go to a default restaurant when we do not have the luxury of time or mood to decide about it, thinking that we will always like it there.
While Max’s is our “default restaurant” for Filipino food, Teriyaki Boy is becoming to be one for Japanese bites. I am particularly craving for ramen and gunkan because I started watching an old Japanese series last weekend. Hence, I remembered these photos that I took during my short vacation. I thought they merit a post.
[Chashu ramen: noodles served with chashu slices (simmered pork belly), sesame, pechay, nori strips, boiled egg and kamaboko (seafood)]
I do not mind eating ramen on a hot day, especially if it is that tasty. We also had a well-mixed serving of seafood teppanyaki.
[Seafood Teppanyaki: fresh prawns, yellow fin tuna, cream dori and squid, stir fried with bell peppers, onions and shiitake (mushroom native to Japan, China and other Asian countries), and teppanyaki sauce]
But outshining all the bites is the tuna gunkan. Gunkan means “battleship” in Japanese and just as it connotes, it is eaten as one mouthful and is not an appetizer. A must-try.
(Crunch Tuna Gunkan: grilled yellow fin tuna, with creamy mayo-based dressing topped on seasoned rice, served with wasabi on the side)
While at home I always took a fruitshake especially mango, because Philippine mangoes are the best.
Teriyaki Boy’s tissue holder is pretty inviting. 🙂
What are your “default” restaurants?

Max’s is also my default for fried chicken. From Teriyaki Boy, Rai Rai Ken is now the first Japanese thing that comes to mind when i’m craving for some sashimi or sushi.love their crazy makis.
North Park, Mann Hann for Chinese, Kabisera by Dencio’s, Mesa, Ado’s for Filipino, Cibo for Italian. And a lot more–sarap kumain!:p

nagustuhan ko na rin ang japanese food. mula nung gumawa ako ng design ng osho restaurant dito sa kuwait. teppan yaki and sushi. pero yung sushi, di ko talaga kaya makain. pero yung art sa food magagaling sila gumawa.

Just had teppanyaki at an NYC restaurant last night and I loved it. The crunch tuna gunkan is something I have yet to try.
