If I’m to name my most favorite piece of edible in the Gulf to date, that would be sajj taouk. At least once a week, I would order this yummy Lebanese sandwich for lunch. And many times, I raved about this in Plurk that it made my plurk buddies curious. Hence, this post.
If only it would not seem unreasonable, I can have this everyday. It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but I normally order two sandwiches and can finish both in one sitting. My pseudo name serves one of its purposes, I would oddly try to justify that one sandwich is for wits and the other one is for nuts. Haha.
Sajj taouk is basically a chicken sandwich and not exactly a shawarma. But wrapped by an Arabic bread are a seemingly specially marinated and grilled chicken (in bits), fries, few pieces of olives and vegetables. I don’t think I’ve tasted something like this in the Philippines.

Yum! Now I’m hating this blah bowl of cereal I’m eating right now. I’ve always loved Lebanese food. Our receptionist at work is Lebanese and she’s always making the most savory meat pies and stuffed zucchini. I can imagine your treat would be just as yummy!

Don’t think I’ve seen a Lebanese restaurant around here, but I’ll research since you made me really curious about this sandwich.
I can think of food that I can gulped in huge quantities too π

The sandwich looks yummy really. And like you, I also had my favorite food while based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia years ago. That’s the Al Baik Chicken – cheap, delicious and very filling.
