That explains why I was terribly chilling last friday, UAE had its coldest weather then. To the point that it snowed in one of its emirates, Ras Al Khaimah. Temperatures on Jebel Jais dropped to -3°C last Friday night (while Abu Dhabi and Dubai had heavy rains). On Saturday, the area had reached 1°C.
Suddenly, almost everybody wanted to go there. Even those from the borders took time to check the area only to find out that they won’t be able to check it unless via a helicopter (it’s the tallest area in UAE).
So, when the impossible can happen in a desert state where summer temperatures can reach 50 Celcius (122 Fahrenheit), I won’t be surprised anymore if it would (someday) snow in the Philippines.
When the impossible happens,
It makes us think that the remote is probable,
That black can be white, or otherwise,
That something (is) maybe wrong,
It is bizarre yet incredible.

It has something to do with us and our carelessness to protect the Earth, sad but true.
Be safe though, jo. Don’t let the bug bite.

damaged na talaga si mother earth that is why ganito ang climate natin. How sad na madami pa din ang nakaka-realize kung bakit nagbabago ang climate natin and still continue to destroy the planet that we live. (:()

Oh, I cannot believe it (But I have to)… Its really a huge surprise! I’m starting to think that this is the reality of the fictional climate change story on THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW…
I want to see snow but I don’t like it to be in the Philippines, coz if it does, many people will suffer. Our community structures are designed not to protect people from snow, but only from heat.
hmmm… Prolly, I want to experience it here. hehehe

Heard about this on the radio the other day. Amazing that these local folks have no word for “snow” – according to the newscaster 😆

It’s not an impossible think.
Jees mountain gets very cold (0c) every winter so snow is not an impossible thing as any opportunity of rain can translate to snow in Jees mountain in Dec & Jan. It snowed last year, and 4 years back. But this is the heaviest.
However, we don’t know whether it snowed 50 years back or 100 years back. We have more communication methods these days and that’s why we know more about unique weather events.
As for the Philipines, It’s almost impossible (unless you have very high mountains) due to the tropical nature of the country where almost no cold air aloft affects the area.

The change in the climate and weather might be a nice experience for some but we should really be more alarmed. Because things are not the way they should be now. Natural disasters are more frequent now and even arrive earlier than scheduled. If it will snow in the Philippines, that’s almost the end of the world.

Wow! Truly amazing! Somehow this reminds me of The Eagles declaring, when they disbanded, that they’ll only regroup “when hell freezes over”. Years later, they did regroup and named their album “Hell Freezes Over”.

hen i was in dubai 9 years ago, there were no clouds in the sky and it only drizzled once in a stretch of one year. and now heavy rains and then snow in the desert — the earth is really changing, noh? we had a similar unusually chilly episode in the phils in january. even baguio peeps found it too cold.
