John Stone – Rib eye steak
Tuesday night. It was full of patrons in clamor of an old favourite. In Abu Dhabi, there must be something special when a restaurant gets into full capacity in the middle of a week.
It is Tuesday night, too, as I write this and salivate as I recall our delicious dining experience in Rodeo Grill Steakhouse. A few claimed that they are the source of best steaks in Abu Dhabi. However, this steakhouse can hold the most valid claim. It is located in Beach Rotana Hotel (the one beside the Abu Dhabi Mall) which has undergone renovation for almost 3 months and re-opened in first week of October just in time for the Eid.

Shrimp and Lobster “Louie” Cocktail (in spicy tomato and horseradish sauce)
As the menu boasts mouthwatering starters and soups, we opted for the shrimp and lobster cocktail along with the seafood bisque. That was after the ‘crossroads’ as we wanted to try almost everything. The so called “louie” cocktail does not only look nice, but it is luscious.

Steak orientation
One of the highlights of the dinner was when we were offered a ‘steak orientation’ as soon as they have taken our order. No dull moments. It was interesting to note the different cuts/steaks face to face wherein you can dissect the marbles within the raw meat. Do not worry, it is not stinky at all. As we listened to the steak master, we got more excited as we learned that those that we were about to devour are their signature beef (Blackmore’s M9+) meaning a 100% full wagyu grain fed for minimum 650 days (we were getting the tenderloin) and the John Stone which is 100% pasture fed, 21 days dry aged (that would be the rib eye that we had).

Seafood bisque
Then our soup, seafood bisque came. It has definitely raised the bar. We could not thank Chef Justin Wong enough for the recommendation. I can still remember how he described the meticulous preparation, which is indeed worthy when he witnesses the satisfied taste buds of the diners.

The soup has a rich shellfish broth flavored with tarragon.

Blackmore’s M9+, Rodeo Grill’s signature beef (100%) full wagyu grain – tenderloin steak. The steaks come with five types of sauce.
What probably sets their offerings, particularly the steaks, at the pedestal is the more smoky and fresher taste. Why is that so? Because the steaks are oven baked, not grilled. Not only the steaks, but even the other dishes (as I remember from the menu) like the burgundy snails which I cannot wait to try. Yes, we are very much looking forward to re-visit. You might be wondering if the dishes were reasonably priced. I can say with confidence that you will be getting the value of your money. You can never go wrong with that direction.

Creme brûlée
We are creme brûlée fans, so it is a habit to take it as one of our ‘default’ desserts. It comes with a generous serving.

Chocolate soufflé
Do not forget to ask for the soufflé. I like it better than the creme brûlée. You actually will not find it in the menu. Thanks to the staff who recommended it. I opine that while the menu is oozing with enough treats, the soufflé must be disclosed there with much pride because it is extremely delicious and satisfying.

Everything is really delicious, but I guess the photos also did justice to demonstrate that they are indeed mouthwatering. Would you believe that the photos that made it to this entry were taken by little J (and from a phone!).? 🙂

I was not fond of steaks many years ago. But I guess you will definitely like it, too, once you cross paths with a sumptuous steak that catches your preference.
Their creme brûlée is one of their signature desserts. 🙂

I can imagine that. Even without looking at the photos I sometimes get hungry the moment I think of their steaks. 🙂 By the way, you got a healthy lunch!
