After “climbing” the world’s tallest tower last weekend, we headed to TGI Fridays in Dubai Mall to re-energize. In between the chatting and munching, I could not help but (impossibly) wished that I were in the Philippines that night to savour the finale concert of APO. If only one of their farewell concerts coincided with my most recent break in Manila and/or somebody from the UAE offered to produce their concert (instead of the Marian-Dingdong and other nonsense gigs), I would be more than happy.
There is really such a thing as mind over matter. Just when we started consuming the appetizing lamb rack, tenneesees, fillet, lemonade and lush, some of APO songs filled the air. With the right company, generous portions of edibles and just in time music, that moment was the next best thing to being in the actual concert with this TGI Fridays branch’s view:
I have uploaded here a playlist (20 songs) of my favorite APO songs (special mention to When I Met You, Pag Ibig, Bakit Ang Babae and Panalangin).
Here is a very heartwarming video of one their last performances (do not miss it!):

that lamb rack looks really scrumptious !
I have watched APO 3 times, spanning some 30 years – unbelievable that I watched them in the late 80’s, 90’s and this decade 🙂 It is sad to see them go. I hope I can catch one of their farewell concerts.
They have farewell concerts? I love APO and their songs.
barkadahan yun yung madalas naming kantahin, nangbarkada. sabi nga nagsimula ang lahat sa eskwela!.. salamat dito, sarap balikan ang nakaraan…di parin kumukupas ang APO!
wow!! nice meal 🙂 i used to go to Fridays in Manila…i missed it. though here they have Friday too just opened recently but haven’t been there. APO what i remember is the song “nakasimangot ka na lang palagi…” 🙂
my brother watched one of their farewells here in cali a month ago. i wished i had the $70 to spend i could have seen them for the first and last time. i do like their songs too.
there’s an asian grocery store here that loves to play yoyoy villame’s cd. i wonder what other asians think of it when they hear the song over the loudspeaker 😀
how have you been?
Oh, I never thought of this group ever throwing a farewell concert. It’s like they’ve been a part of OPM for such a long, long time they can not be just dissolving into thin air. Oh wait, they’ll always be “on the air” no matter what.
can’t comment. wiping my drool.

Those dishes look absolutely delicious. The Apo song playing in the background is a nice coincidence.
They may retire, but their songs will stay. Cool…
nagutom naman ako…
