(Sheikh Mohammed holding his moustache.)
It is really true that some (unexpected) things are possible, just because somebody happened to be at the right place and time. I never thought that on that fateful day, I would meet the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed.
Few days ago, I responded to this genius invite, with binocular and compass in it, and attended the event.
It was indeed grand, priming on the unveiling of the life size model (23 x 17 meters) of the metropolitan urban landscape of Abu Dhabi (as part of Plan 2030).
And thanks to my luck, again, I happened to be at the right spot to have met another sheikh.
(Sheikh Abdulla)
There were plenty of stands in the exhibit, but this one outshined the rest. There were two videos being played alternately, serving as the backgrounder for the current and future projects for the emirate. The techno colors passing through the model as the videos played added to the futuristic feel. You will notice the arabic design (lights shading) on the floor.
(Sheikh Khalifa, UAE President on the video.)
I was on the second floor (lounge) while I took the photos.
The other stands were unique and interesting, too. There were too many structural models that delighted me, that I forgot to take a photo of the others because there was one that got me the most (details will be in a separate post).

The uniquely shaped building in Al Raha which I previously blogged was definitely eye-catching.

amazing! could they just have used the money on the real project rather than build such an elaborate model? i guess it’s all about the viewing too to attract investors.

Very grand vision talaga. And everybody hopes na it will fully materialize. An exodus of Filipino workers to Abu Dhabi will continue. Hopefully it will not follow the fate of Dubai, na maraming nabitin na projects. An example alone is The Palm in it’s totality, hindi pa rin tapos. But as my friend say, this country makes the record on stunning structures, na sila din mag-be-break ng record.

Wow, that is amazing to know you’ve met some Sheiks. That thing on the board, are they planning to do that with the country? Looking good!
I can’t wait to know how UAE will look like in 20 years. Just look at all those designs, they are all grand.

wow, they’re really at it to wow the world. i just hope this kind of progress isn’t straining the environment. not that i’m an environmentalist, but too much of a good thing can be bad too, right? π
btw, lucky day for having seen the crown prince.
