As mentioned in the preceding post, we checked the unrestricted areas in the Emirates Palace after the Louvre Abu Dhabi Exhibit. There was a time when guided tours were still conducted (that was before I was based here) for this luxury hotel including the viewing of the topmost floor where the six rulers’ suites (only offered to the royal families of the UAE) are located.
As you get off the main entrance, this dome located at left ground will strike you. I never paid this much attention when I visited at day time. It talks more at night as it changes its colors from violet, green, red, blue with transition colors in between.
Here’s a view of the other side:
Downstairs are lively fountains. There are benches nearby, that you’ll find a number of tourists frequenting this most photographed area. You’ll soon know why.
I wonder how prettier these fountains and palm trees could get once more playful lighting is done.
Here’s a view of Emirates Palace almost in its entirety. The color of the dome changes, too, from time to time. In the middle of the stairs are rushing waters that complement the splashing coming from the fountains.

With so much wealth fueled by petro-dollars, I’m not surprised the UAE is on a building spree, luxurious buildings at that.

Now I know why they call it a palace! Somehow the changing colors of the dome don’t look too good in the overall look of the Palace. But that’s just me. Still, it’s very beautiful.
