I was all eyes to CNN last night (UAE time). Unluckily I couldn’t follow the (a little more real time) coverage made by the two more known TV stations in the Philippines. Bohoo my TFC and Pinoy TV susbscriptions. Akalain mo, Wowowee at Eat Bulaga ang pinangtapat sa Michael Jackson memorial services coverage.
My spirit was willing, but my eyes were weak (or maybe because I have pre-set my mind to sleep earlier for a long battle ahead at work the next day, that’s today). So I unconsciously fell asleep after Stevie Wonder sung.
Thanks to All Bright Reference for this video wherein the memorial in its entirety was recorded.

Wow, I just noticed. This is the longest title amongst my posts in the history. I wouldn’t edit. It’s about MJ, anyway. May he rest in peace.

i cried a lot throughout the memorial, especially during brooke shields’ speech and little paris’ short and tearful farewell.
this memorial gave fans a glimpse at the human, more fragile side of MJ whose heart was bigger than his fame.
the first part where they wheeled his golden casket to the floor was so eerie, as they sang “we are going to see the king.” the king of pop was indeed going to see the king of kings.
so many poignant highlights during the memorial, such as usher’s and stevie wonder’s emotional songs and john mayer’s soulful guitar solo of “human nature.”

Saw it over CNN. Shed a tear during Brooke Shield’s speech and Usher’s song. I was hoping I would hear Dame Liz Taylor or Diana Ross speak. Pero wala pala sila.
I was hoping they would show the video of Michael rehearsing for the ‘This is it’ concert. Hindi naman ipinakita.

I caught it after work last night while doing my ironing. CNN, TVGuide, BET, ABC, etc had it on for those who actually had to work that day and had no time (or slow connection at work) to follow it online.
His little Paris is so adorable. I wonder is she’s going to be in showbiz too.

It was a subdued atmosphere, thankfully out of respect for MJ. Now there is still no news about where MJ will be buried. Looks like they’ll have to construct a well guarded, private cemetery for him !

I will watch this at home later. It’s sad that such an awesome performer has gone, but on the bright side, at least now he’s spared from all the bad press that he’s been getting. His memorial service cemented the fact that with all the weird things he’s been doing (or accused), at the end of the day, he was a good father.
