My vacation wouldn’t be complete without visiting our old favorite (and named as the cleanest) restaurant in Laguna. In that one foggy afternoon, my aunts, uncle and I feasted on some not so exotic dishes (except for fried frogs) because they were not really there to try the eel, rabbits, and the like, but to check on what’s new with the landscape + they love to scrutinize the food’s taste. My family cooks well, except me. Again I’d say, I am fonder of eating than cooking.
In the first photo, you’d see my Aunt B’s fingers. She was excited to put a verdict on the fried frogs (while my uncle said adobo frogs are better). That was my second time to munch on the chicken-y frogs, while my first on the yummy kalderetang kambing (goat). The pinakbet with chicharon got the highest approval from all of us.
I ordered ginataang talangka (crabs) in particular. I was craving for ginataang kuhol (snails), but the stock were all consumed that afternoon. The gata is a little spicy and my aunts approved it except that they find it a little pricey. That’s a little premium for the landscape that we will be enjoying more after the meal. And to balance it off, the sinigang na tanigue was rightly whipped. We all had the Christmas colored sago’t gulaman.
The ambiance never fails to give me the provincial and homey feel. It’s complemented by the fresh air coming from the bay. From my last year’s visit, an obvious improvement in this area was made.
This bridge is new and the distribution made it more appealing.
I also noticed how their pets grew. (The middle photo are ‘headshots’.) I’m not sure though if the rabbits are categorized that way or these are actually stocks.
I am so amazed that Samantha (yes the black creature has a name) has significantly grown. Her cage was moved up. Perhaps not to scare the other guests (or because she’s more dangerous now?). She’s claimed to be the owners’ lucky charm.
Don’t miss Exotik Restaurant when you’re going to Laguna. This is four hours drive from Manila. If you are coming from South Luzon Expressway, you have to pass by at Sta. Cruz, Pagsanjan and Lake Caliraya. If you are from Rizal, it would take less than two hours drive and you have to pass by at Siniloan and Paete. Kalayaan would be the next town.

How does one register for the viade del sol? How much is it per person? Parang masaya kapag part ng group. Of course that’s just me being a lazy driver. hehe

Samantha looks scary. I think it’s because of her black color. The place looks really homey and peaceful. Now I have so many things to check out in the Philippines. Thank you for all this info. Hurray to Pinakbet, one of my favorites.

Never knew about this restaurant. It looks neat and attractive. I’ll keep this in mind. I have a brother who resides in Laguna (Calamba) 🙂 Nice pictures 🙂
I crave for anything “ginataan” right now. Man I could wipe out those ginataang crabs and kuhol in a jiffy 😆
