We can always randomly assess the things that happened in the past, but it’s when it’s nearing to year end that it seems more meaningful to take a quick glance to anything and about.
My 2008 started in a stressful phase as I was trying to tie loose ends before leaving the country for the same work with a competitor firm. It was bittersweet because it was also when I got to see my family and friends gathered in separately-held despedidas. For all I know, after listening to Astrud Gilberto’s songs in flight, I’ve finally smelled the breeze of the lower gulf. Abu Dhabi is unbelievably a lot better than what I’ve expected.
Thanks to the people who made it easier for me to adjust (you know who you are). Being away definitely made me a better person. My posts fairly chronicled what I’ve been engaging in the past months. Travel, food haunts, more time for reading, rekindled my love for artwork, unexpectedly became a moviegoer (due to the cinema promos), celebrating some occasions for the first time being away, etc.
If you’re following my posts, you probably know that my schedule/activities had been crazy since mid of this month (quick glance here and there). Thanks to those who left comments/ reminders for me to take it easy. Don’t worry, things were executed just as planned. Few days before Christmas, I was just enjoying being at home, with occasional eat outs in a few old favorite restos nearby. While I roamed around Manila with my closest cousins in the past two days. It was much fun. I think that would be the last chance for my being a streetbug.
I am not yet done with my planned meet ups. But I’m afraid that I need to beg off to some since I would not have much time anymore. I didn’t expect time really has wings. It really flies that I’m already leaving in less than a week.
If I’m to sum up 2008 in one word, it would be CHANGES. I’m especially thankful that while I started the year leaving home, I am culminating it the same way. I’m happy to be spending my favorite occasions at home.
I’m not really fond of New Year’s resolutions, though I had my random promises last November. As I checked it, I already broke three of these. Yaiks. Anyways, I want to keep it generic and simple, all I want is to do better and enjoy life/have fun, without compromising living it up with meaning and purpose. Happy New Year, everyone!
